The Angel of Service is the Symbol of the Deacons
1angel.jpg

2) Deacons

These are women and men who minister to the people in our branch of the Body of Christ and to the community as a whole through various ministries of helps, such as, victim's outreach, housing and job services, food growth and distribution, teaching, and healing prayers.

They administer the Sacrament of Baptism.

As such they are the Hands of the Church and their symbols are the wings of an Angel, outstretched to shelter, guard, guide and nurture the lives of others in Christ. Their stoles represent those angel's wings when they serve at the altar and the intense reverence that Deacons bring to the Holy Sacrifice of the Altar.

They represent the family of the Church.

AFTER MATH...because sometimes what happens AFTER the crime, is worse than the crime itself!

Senior Deacon Lee Duplessis has begun a ministry working with victims of crime, trying to make sure that their treatment by the system doesn't further victimize the people it is trying to help.

"This is a ministry that I have always wanted to do," says Deacon Lee. "So often the people think that once you catch an attacker and bring him or her to justice in the system, that it's all over. That's simply not true."

In Aftermath, Deacon Lee will deal with helping people heal, making sure the convicted serve their full sentences, working on setting up reconciliation programs, balanced divorce mediation and wider legislation by networking with existing agencies.

For more information, please call Lee at (208) 346-0078.

They do get bigger, don't they?
